WWII Royal Navy Officer’s Visor Cap – Size 56 (UK 6 ⅞)

A World War II British Royal Navy (RN) officer’s dress visor cap, size 56 (UK 6 ⅞). This mid-war example is made of dark navy blue wool gabardine over a flexible, structured frame, with the traditional woven black mohair band.

A standard officer’s pattern, appropriate for Sub-Lieutenant through Lieutenant Commander ranks, it has a plain black patent leather peak and a matching adjustable leather chin strap secured by small cloth-covered buttons.

The tan leather sweatband has partly come away from the stitching along the front rim (see the photos), but the leather itself is stable and supple rather than dry or brittle.
