Terms and conditions

The terms that apply when you buy from Blackcat Militaria and Collectables.

1. Who we are

This website is run by [CHECK WITH NATHAN: his legal name and trading name, e.g. "[full name] trading as Blackcat Militaria and Collectables"], a sole trader based at [CHECK WITH NATHAN: business address]. You can contact us at [CHECK WITH NATHAN: email address] or through our contact page.

2. Placing an order

When you place an order at checkout, we'll email you to confirm we've received it. Our contract with you starts when we [CHECK WITH NATHAN: confirm the order by email, or dispatch it].

Payment is taken at checkout by card through [CHECK WITH NATHAN: payment provider, e.g. Stripe or PayPal]. Card payments are processed by that provider; we don't store your card details on this website.

3. Prices and availability

Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). [CHECK WITH NATHAN: VAT status, e.g. "We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged."] Delivery is charged separately and shown at checkout before you pay.

Most of our items are one of a kind. If an item is no longer available after you've ordered it, we'll tell you straight away and refund any payment in full.

If we've made an obvious mistake with a price or description, we'll contact you before dispatch and you can choose to go ahead at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

4. Descriptions and authenticity

Every item is described honestly and to the best of our knowledge, with photographs of its condition. Militaria is often decades old, so age-related wear, marks and repairs are normal; we point out anything significant in the description.

[CHECK WITH NATHAN: does he offer an authenticity guarantee? If so, what does it cover and for how long?] If you believe an item isn't as described, see Shipping and returns.

5. Restricted items

Some items, such as bayonets and edged weapons, can only be sold to buyers aged 18 or over and may need age-verified delivery. [CHECK WITH NATHAN: will he sell any bladed or deactivated items?]

Where an item has an age restriction, we may ask for proof of age before dispatch and may refuse or cancel an order if we can't confirm it.

If you're buying from outside the UK, it's your responsibility to check that the item can legally be imported into your country. [CHECK WITH NATHAN: does he sell any other items with legal restrictions?]

6. Cancellations and returns

You can cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. How to cancel, return an item and get your refund is explained on our Shipping and returns page.

7. Our responsibility to you

We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not using reasonable care. We're not responsible for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable, or for any business losses.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where it would be unlawful to do so, or affects your legal rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

8. Your personal information

We only use your personal information as set out in our privacy policy.

9. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you place your order is the one that applies to it. Last updated: [CHECK WITH NATHAN: date he approves these terms].
